PAPSTAR Holding AG, based in Wattens, Austria, acts as
the strategic holding company of the internationally active
PAPSTAR Group. It has three of its own production facilities
as well as national and international sales companies.
The holding company was founded in 1999 by Gernot
Langes-Swarovski. As the parent company, it is respon-
sible for the overarching management, coordination and
strategic orientation of all affiliated companies. It also
plays a key role in shaping the group-wide standards
in the areas of sustainability, digitalisation, finance and
corporate governance in order to continuously develop
them further.
With 916 employees across Europe and a broad network
of sales partners, PAPSTAR is one of the leading suppliers
of disposable tableware and service packaging in Europe.
The range comprises several thousand products from three
product groups: Disposable tableware and service pack-
aging, table top and room decorations, and disposable
products for household, professional kitchen and hygiene.
PAPSTAR’s core competences lie in the distribution and
provision of disposable items for households, the catering
trade and bulk consumers - with a clear focus on products
made from renewable raw materials and consistently
implemented recycling and closed-loop concepts.
PAPSTAR attaches great importance to sustainability issues
- and has done so for many years! They have a significant
impact on our decisions and shape our processes. Not as
self-contained measures, but in their entirety as a conti-
nuous development process.
Our corporate responsibility and foresight towards society
and the environment require not only conscious decisions
in the here and now, but also continuous further develop-
ment in all relevant fields of action.
Due to our comprehensive ESG (Environmental, Social
and Governance) communication via EcoVadis, GREEN
BRANDS and the UN Global Compact, we have decided
in favour of the new condensed format for ‘Sustainabi-
lity to go’, which provides a fact-based overview of our
sustainability performance.
On 20 pages, we present the structure of our Group and
summarise key figures in a transparent manner. The starting
point was our early engagement with the
Corporate Sustainability Reporting
Directive (CSRD). Until this becomes
applicable as part of the omnibus
procedure, we will work on the data
basis across the Group and are
already reporting on reliable
key figures.

PAPSTAR Holding AG
PAPSTAR stands for sustainable management at
all levels. With 916 employees at ten locations
in Europe and an extensive sales network, we
accept responsibility - ecologically, socially and
economically. A key component is our Group-wide
Code of Conduct, which sets out binding ethical and
sustainable principles at all branches.
Along our entire value chain, we consistently pursue
the goal of reducing our ecological impact and
upholding social standards. This is also reflected in
our key figures. The holding company’s average
energy consumption was 13,434 MWh - an important
indicator of our efficiency programmes and our
commitment to climate protection.
Our employees are the foundation of our success.
With an average length of service of 10.662 years
and a balanced age structure, we combine many
years of experience with fresh impetus. The proportion
of over-50s ensures that valuable expertise and
stability remain anchored in the company, while
younger generations with new ideas follow. This mix
of experienced staff and young talent forms the basis
for sustainable development. We also focus on flexible
working models. 454 employees work full-time, 462
part-time - a clear commitment to work-life balance.
PAPSTAR is orientated towards sustainability standards
- in processes, in daily actions, and always in attitude.
Together with our customers and partners, we are
actively shaping a future that is worth living, based
on figures that make our commitment measurable
and transparent. In this way, we create trust among
our most important stakeholders, strengthen our
responsibility towards future generations, and send
out a clear signal in favour of sustainable business
practices throughout the Group.

Opportunities from CSRD Reporting
As the PAPSTAR Group, we are committed to the EU’s climate targets and align our actions accordingly. In 2025, for the first time we calcula-
ted a standardised corporate carbon footprint (CCF) for the entire holding company. This enabled us to create the data basis for the measurable
and transparent further development of our climate strategy in line with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
We have been analysing CSRD requirements since 2023, and have already carried out the double materiality analysis. It shows which sustaina-
bility topics are particularly relevant to us - both in terms of their impact on the environment and society as well as the opportunities and risks.
On this basis, we were able to consistently drive forward the reporting requirements from the CSRD at an early stage.
Due to the current developments in the omnibus procedure, we have reset our priorities with regard to the implementation of CSRD requirements.
We continue to liaise closely with our auditor, and use the time to consistently develop the determination and validation of our sustainability
indicators and for systematic risk analysis.
“Sustainable development is development that ensures that
future generations will be no less able to meet their needs than
those of today” - a definition that we at PAPSTAR are very
much in favour of.
The diverse tasks and challenges that arise from this basic un-
derstanding are at the centre of our daily activities, alongside
a clear focus on our customers. And more: they have long
since developed into a clear core message of our brand.
Attitude, credibility, consistency, transparency and authenticity
are the basic prerequisites for the fulfilment of our sustainabili-
ty claim. Together they represent a marathon that can only be
run successfully with perseverance, seriousness and consis-
tency. This requires patience, the courage to make long-term
decisions, and a keen awareness of the key starting points that
we have set ourselves for the sustainable transformation. It is

for the opportunities of future generations.
A look into the future

Bert Kantelberg
Chairman of the Management Board
PAPSTAR Holding AG
As part of our Europe-wide activities, we are faced with the challenge of
fulfilling a large number of legal requirements at European and national
level. Regulatory requirements are constantly increasing and, depending
on the member state, differ considerably in terms of their specific structure
and implementation.
Our product ranges are harmonised and standardised throughout Europe.
This has the advantage of efficient processes and clear product communi-
cation. The aim is to fulfil all legal requirements and to make our
products compliant, safe and future-proof.
Special attention is currently being paid to the following legislation:
• The Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD), which regulates
the use and labelling of certain plastic products.
• The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD),
which requires comprehensive transparency on environmental,
social and governance issues.
• The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR),
which aims to achieve far-reaching harmonisation of
packaging requirements and targets in the EU.
• The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which aims to
ensure that no products with a deforestation risk are
placed on the European market.
The PAPSTAR Group is facing up to this complexity with for-
ward-looking legal monitoring, close cooperation with
experts, and a consistently sustainability-orientated product
range strategy. We develop holistic recycling solutions for
some of our disposable products made from renewable raw
materials and enable them to be returned to the material cycle,
for example through the use of bio-converters. In addition to
innovative material flow concepts, we offer customers
customised consulting and other services, and thus actively
contribute to the promotion of a sustainable circular economy.
In this way, we not only want to act in accordance with the law,
but also to actively contribute to the transformation.

Holding | PAPSTAR Sustainability to go 2024/25
PAPSTAR GmbH plays a central role in the Group’s logistics and
supply chain within PAPSTAR Holding AG, along with many other
tasks. With a central and high-bay warehouse covering an area of
130,000 square metres, PAPSTAR GmbH ensures the permanent
availability of the entire product range - day in, day out and all over
Europe.
The logistics centre in Kall has a state-of-the-art infrastructure with
70,000 pallet bays and 100,000 additional box bays, ensuring
a high level of efficiency and availability of goods. Thanks to fully
automated picking processes, an average of up to 22,200 orders
are processed and delivered every month - from parcel shipping and
general cargo to container shipping, either with the company’s own
fleet of vehicles or via external forwarders.
In addition, regular eco-training courses for lorry drivers, a bonus
system to promote environmentally friendly driving behaviour and a
particularly low fuel consumption by the fleet contribute to sustainable
and efficient logistics. The connection to central transport routes facili-
tates short response times and reliable delivery to sister companies
and customers in over 30 countries. With this comprehensive logistics
concept, PAPSTAR GmbH is making a significant contribution to the
Group’s ecological responsibility.
PAPSTAR
GmbH
GmbH | PAPSTAR Sustainability to go 2024/25
Another central task of PAPSTAR GmbH is central purchasing. The
product range of around 9,000 items worldwide is managed from
Kall in close coordination with product group management, which
takes into account the needs of the target groups in the respective
countries - including their legal requirements for product design.
Strategic Purchasing is responsible for procurement from international
suppliers.
The IT infrastructure for the Group is also provided by PAPSTAR
GmbH. It forms the digital basis for a smooth operation. This includes
setting up and maintaining networks, servers and applications as
well as ensuring stable and secure access to centralised systems.
With an integrative understanding of sustainability, PAPSTAR GmbH
is positioning itself not only as the backbone of the Group, but also
as a responsible, trustworthy and future-oriented
player within the European supply chain.
PAPSTAR is committed to actively assisting
its customers in deciding which product is
the most sustainable. At many events, we
have been able to demonstrate that our
products made from renewable raw materi-
als function excellently in a cycle.
Nevertheless, we will carefully consider
each application with its individual requirements in order to be
able to guarantee the most ecologically sensible solution in
each case.
Disposable and reusable are not mutually exclusive. Both solu-
tions can complement each other very well! The aim is to make
the enjoyment of drinks and food an experience again. The
consumer should not have to worry about the most sustainable
packaging. We take care of that!
Tom Kantelberg
Managing Director PAPSTAR GmbH
Our commitment to certifications and sustainable
standards is based on both inner conviction
and a deeply rooted understanding of
corporate responsibility - long before legal
requirements or social expecta-
tions demanded it.

PAPSTAR Solutions GmbH was founded as a spin-off in 2019 to implement circular material
flow management. The “Zero Waste - Pure Pleasure” solution concept that has now been made
available is aimed specifically at catering companies, large-scale catering establishments, event
organisers and providers of communal catering. In these areas, disposable tableware made
from renewable raw materials is a worthwhile alternative to reusable tableware.

The used disposable tableware (including food waste) is collected by type via return
points; a bio-converter then processes the fibres so that the secondary raw material
obtained can be used to produce new cardboard and paper products.

With our sustainability goals, we create a basis for making progress measurable and transparent.
In this section, we provide an update on our current key figures and show how far we have come in realising
our goals - from occupational health and safety and supply chains to environmental and climate protection.
Training hours per employee should amount to at least 8 hours per year by 2030.
By 2025, the proportion of employees trained in the areas of corruption and the General Equal
Treatment Act should be 100 percent.
The fluctuation rate should not exceed 12 percent in 2030.
(We define the fluctuation rate as the proportion of all employees/mini-jobbers who leave the company
voluntarily, through redundancy, retirement or death)
The number of reported compliance violations should remain at 0 until 2030.
The training quota should be at least 8 percent by 2030.
By 2028, we aim to reduce our fuel consump-
tion to 21.25 litres per 100 kilometres.
We are aiming for a 20 percent reduction in our
truck fleet’s carbon emissions by 2030.
Carbon emissions (Scope 1 and 2) at the Kall
site are to be reduced by 50 percent by 2035
compared to the 2012 reference value.
In 2025, all products under the PAPSTAR brand
will be made from renewable raw materials.

In communal catering, hygienically sealed
trays made from bagasse (sugar cane) are
frequently used to transport portioned meals
from A to B. They offer enormous advan-
tages over reusable solutions for a wide
range of facilities, as they take up less
space, weigh far less, and are easier to
handle. Not only can the sealing trays,
which can be divided into up to three seg-
ments and are customised for the machine,
be completely biodegraded together
with food waste using a bio-converter
and fed into a recycling system, but the
space required, or even the operation and
maintenance of a costly scullery with a high
water consumption, can also be completely
eliminated.
The new 'DAILY Collection' has been ho-
noured with the Cooking Award 2025 in
the 'Tabletop' category by leading industry
magazine 'Cooking + Catering inside'. The
Gold rating is based on a survey of a reader
panel and experts in catering, communal
catering and the restaurant business in
general.
From morning to night, catering never
stops. The multi-layer 'DAILY Collection' is
produced at Paper Print Converting GmbH
in Austria, a PAPSTAR Group company. The
basic requirement is an absorbent, certified
and recyclable material. Only tissue qualities
whose primary fibres meet all hygiene
requirements are used.
Thanks to the use of an organic additive, the
'GREEN Nitrile' examination and protective
gloves by medi-inn are biodegradable and
suitable for many areas of application. The
additive is a polymerised food source that is
specially formulated to attract microbes that
are mainly found in landfill sites.
This method is purely enzymatic. When
bacteria consume the material, they secrete
an enzyme that breaks down the polymer
chain so that the microbes can naturally
degrade the remaining polymer. This glove
degrades to 81 percent in a landfill site
within 490 days, whereas conventional
nitrile gloves take decades.

Social and environmental responsibility in the supply chain is
a key area of action for PAPSTAR. In order to fulfil our role,
we have proactively addressed the challenges of sustainable
procurement and significantly increased transparency.
A company-wide procurement guideline stipulates fair deal-
ings with suppliers, the protection of the environment and
people, and compliance with applicable laws. In future, we
will require certificates and proof of key sustainability aspects
from our main suppliers - particularly in the areas of human
rights, labour rights and the environment. ESG issues are
therefore an integral part of our business relationships and
contracts.
One core component is the 'supplier code of conduct'. All
suppliers had to sign it by 2025. This requirement has been
implemented. All suppliers have accepted the Code, which
contains binding commitments on environmental, human and
labour rights as well as ethical behaviour. Compliance is part
of the supplier contracts.
To minimise risk at an early stage, we regularly evaluate our
suppliers by various criteria. These include, for example, the
ILO core labour standards (International Labour Organiza-
tion), national laws, and the principles of Global Compact.
These CSR audits enable targeted reviews, particularly in
regions with an increased risk.
We take our responsibility seriously. It is important for us to
keep an eye on the entire supply chain and actively promote
sustainable principles.
These measures confirm that PAPSTAR pursues a proactive,
value-orientated approach to procurement. We are not con-
tent with the minimum legal standards, but act out of our own
responsibility and conviction.
